Solent Mind

Mobile Mental Health App

Reimagining the provision of localised mental health support in a post COVID-19 world.

What is Solent Mind?

Mind is the UK’s leading mental health charity

One of 125 local branches across the country

Largest mental health support service with over 120k users

Corporate mental health and wellbeing provider

The Brief

Solent Mind came to us in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic to deploy a primary healthcare application quickly so to help address the widening needs of the UK populace to the impending increase in mental health  and wellbeing concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. The app needed to provide a new wave of support, from signposting, goal setting, resources, challenges, checklists and ultimately to build a peer-to-peer support system to help improve the mental health of users.

Challenges

 1.

Speed to market, given the rapid challenges arising from the pandemic

2.

Collecting multiple sources of content to produce on-brand app ready content

3.

Creating interactive tools to help measure and improve mental health and wellbeing

4.

Providing a solution scalable to other Mind Branches, with local control with centralised structure

The Solution

We created a quickly deployable on-brand application with a huge amount of wellbeing and mental health resources, adapting to the ever-evolving needs of the pandemic from the medical to the wellbeing response. A wide variety of interactive features for self-help purposes, signposting relevant services and anonymised user data production for use in planning effective allocation of resources across the UK.

Platforms

Features

Employment and Finance

Through uncertainty over unemployment and job security for much of the population, there’s great anxiety over how the future might look.

The app informs users of available financial support, who’s employing, how they can upskill, guidance on writing an effective CV and key interview skills.

Wellbeing Tracker

The app invites the user to anonymously express how they feel and guides them to appropriate content that may help with their mental health. Tracking trends in user wellbeing over time, plus real-time resource usage provides valuable data. This leads to better informed decisions for Solent Mind in how to best focus on future services.

Stay Active

Interactive exercise resources from Mind encourage better physical and mental health, including meditation guides, yoga and pilates classes, follow along cardio and dance workouts – available in a wide range of accessibility levels.

Challenge Yourself

Filtered into personalised challenges for each user’s specific interests & needs, the app provides a weekly checklist of small but meaningful goals, designed to inspire personal development and provide affirmation.
